New Green Revolution 2025-28
Ever thought about how difficult it is to live in a world that already has it’s values set, with the design all around us suited to forces that emphasize money, power and the resource industries? Do you have long standing resentments against the way we build, what we build and how we live? Many environmentalists have spent careers facing against the powers that undermine our world, whether they be people making a paycheck, looking for an answer, or somehow control more than the average person. This has contributed to the demise of our health, lifestyle and natural world for hundreds of years.
The theory behind what I am calling the ‘New Green Revolution’ is that the fundamental way we have used the environmental theory is flawed in that it opposes the other side of the argument in a manner that creates the problems that we see. As concerned citizens, we have a way of raising awareness, only to create alarm, which then in turn looks like defeatism, escapism or hate. By letting people know that there is an issue, we haven’t directly changed the issue, only highlighted it, which creates a loop of failure that has environmental theory to be something that ‘we should do’, or ‘will do, once we all agree,’ -not something that we simply do everyday.
Growing up next to the oil industry, I was well aware that the means to create our resources taint our community’s ability to respond. As international efforts made it real that what was happening with the climate was not going away, our discussion was an all out war, where the climate denying pundits of many communities would pit ever effort in a lame argument against the self-sacrificing but equally difficult personality of the environmental hero.
‘New Green Revolution’ is a concept by kdutchak.org to help me with my ideas about inserting progressive values of 2025 into everyday life in order to avoid the divisions that contribute to the hate cycle. As well as aimed to be a holistic approach to environmentalism, ‘New Green Revolution’ was built to address environmental themes in spaces where all-or-none thinking creates an impossible dilemma or both environmentalists and bystanders alike. If we can’t begin as an environmentalist, can we ever become an environmentalist? That is where many well meaning people end up, having to throw away their car, house and even families in an effort to become a perfect eco-soldier.
These concepts are built on the idea that the world is slowly accepting that we cannot keep building the way we have. In ‘New Green Revolution,’ we ae hoping that simple concepts once or twice a month, inserted into a participants conversation, will help the discussion become more ‘in place’ rather than brought up. From brainstorming a new concept that could utilize the natural world easier, like my ‘Rock Form Houses’ pictured, (an idea meant to mimic the natural tendency for hard materials to erode at all sizes, in our structures, to reduce the amount of waste we see in energy, stress and water runoff), to having your business or company already align to environmental themes unsaid in practice instead of the opposite.
This thinking completely adopts the last 50 years of environmental talk into a new mindset, which understands that environmental thinking is vastly different then profit driven thinking, success driven thinking and sometimes, even family driven thinking, unfortunately. However, by making the concept of ‘New Green Revolution’, we are updating the green thinking that has developed since we were children, while still understanding that considerable pressure has to be be applied indirectly to those who do not follow eco-sensitive decisions. Please watch me develop my hypothesis that there is a decent middle ground that is not enabling either pro- or anti climate change decision makers, just real, results based altruistic notions that find that the values from environmentalism is already in us to begin with, and that we will naturally say yes to the right eco-projects, provided we install them in ways that do not emphasize the divisions in change and use innovation, creativity and even humor to achieve best value results.
